Plant Pathology

The Plant Pathology Group aims to deliver effective, purpose-built disease management systems that integrate multiple strategies applied according to disease risk. Our research is focused on diseases of horticultural, arable and vegetable crops, caused by fungi, bacteria and protozoa, and encompasses both field production and postharvest diseases. We are also investigating the interactions between fungi and the roots of forest trees for the production of new species of edible mushrooms.

Our researchers are based at seven sites – Auckland, Pukekohe, Ruakura, Hawke’s Bay, Palmerston North, Marlborough and Lincoln.
